The Art of Sound| تراثيات|فن الصّوت

Fan al sout or the Art of Sound is a special singing performance known in the Arabian Gulf specially in Bahrain & Kuwait, it's been said that it's roots go all the way back to the Abbasid empire. 

First it was based in Hijaz then developed in Bahrain and then moved to Kuwait to be developed even further more on the hands of one of the pioneers in this art the late Abdulla Al Farraj.

Fan Al Sout is one of the most difficult art in terms of performance, which needs a very powerful and trained voice.

This art was used as a get away in the long days in the sea, singing the words of love and longing monthes away from home and beloved ones by the sailors. One of the pioneers in this art is the late Bahraini artist Mohammed Zuwayed,  who sang timeless songs using local music instruments like oud and merwas.

فن الصوت هو أداء خاص للغناء اشتهر في منطقة الخليج العربي و على وجه الخصوص في البحرين و الكويت, و يقال أن جذوره تعود للدولة العباسية و ارتكز في الحجاز ثم ازدهر في البحرين و انتقل غلى الكويت بعد ذالك و تطور أكثر على يد الأوائل في هذا الفن مثل الفنان عبدالله فرج. و هو من أصعب الفنون اذ يحتاج الى حنجرة قوية و متمرسة.

قامت عليه مجموعة كبيرة من الأعمال الخليجية الخالدة على يد عظماء في هذا الفن, مثل الفنان البحرين الراحل محمد زويد.

فن الصوت هو فن بحري تراثي تستخدم فيه عدة آلات عربية محلية مثل المرواس و العود, مع رقصته الخاصة و كلمات الشعر المتناغم مع الالحان عن الديار و العشق و الحنين لتسلي البحارة عن تعب السفر الطويل و البعد عن الأهل و الديار.

و للتفرقة بين الصوت البحريني و الكويتي فغن جميع الألحان التي غناها محمد بن فارس و ضاحي بن وليد هي ألحان بحرينية قديمة او من تلحينهما, بينما غنى محمد بن زويد بعض الألحان الكويتية مثل (مر ظبي سباني) و لكن أغلب ما غناه زويد هل الحان بحرينية.

تراثيات | سوق المقاصيص Al Maqasis Souq

Al Maqasis Souq or (Haraj) is one of the oldest markets in the Kingdom of Bahrain, changing its location and moving from a place to another along the years due to factors of urban development and etc. 
Almqasis word is a slang word in Bahrain means bankrupted and distressed, a person in need for some extra fast cash would come to the souq to sell what ever he has for some cash, either used or new items.
The Souq moved from the city of Manama, and specifically near the cinema Algosaibi to Isa Town in the nineties and sales also became more modern, and even the exhibiting, while in the past the market was a collection rugs where items are spread on to be sold by men and women.

Everything from A to Z is being sold in the souq! Used be it or new: utensils, clothing, construction equipment, pets, electronics and antiques such as ancient coins and ancient gramophones and cameras etc..

The market is on Fridays and Saturdays only -which is weekends- so you can see many vendors are either staff or students already seeking to increase their income ..
Many did not visit this market yet, but it may disappear after years from now, so if i may suggest you try to visit is ASAP.

 سوق المقاصيص او (الحراج) من أحد أقدم الأسواق في البحرين, تغير مكان إقامته و تنقل مع مرور الزمن بفعل عوامل . الازدهار  العمراني و غيره. 

كلمة المقاصيص هي كلمة عاميّة بحرينية تعني المفلس و المضطر, فكان من يحتاج لمبلغ من المال (فلان حده مقصوص هاشهر) يأتي 

  إلى السوق ليبيع ما عنده ن حاجات مستخدمة كانت أو جديدة. 

انتقل السوق من منطقة المنامة و بالتحديد كان بالقرب من سينما القصيبي و فريج المهزع و الحدادة إلى مدينة عيسى في التسعينات و المبيعات ايضا صارت أكثر تماشياً مع العصر و حتى طريقة العرض, في السابق كان السوق عبارة عن مجموعة من البسطات حيث ياتي الرجال و النساء و يبسطون بساط على الأرض و فوقها يعرض ما لديهم.

المعروضات في السوق ببساطة كل شئ! من الإبرة إلى الجمل, مستخدم و جديد: أواني, ثياب, معدات بناء, حيوانات أليفة, دواجنو الكترونيات و أشياء تراثية قديمة مثل العملات و الغرامافون و الكاميرات القديمة و العديد غيرها.

السوق متواجد يوميّ الجمعة و السبت فقط أي في نهاية الأسبوع لذا نرة ان العديد من الباعة إما موظفين أصلاً أو طلاب يسعون لزيادة أرزاقهم.. 

العديد لم يزر هذا السوق و لكنه قد يندثر بعد سنوات إذاً يفضل زيارته الآن..

هذه مقابلة مع السيّد صلاح حسين و يمتلك مكتبة ثرية و اقول هذا عن تجربة شخصية و مكتبته تستحق الزيارة في سوق المقاصيص:

 شجرة الحياة, الشجرة التي تعتبر معجزة في صمودها دون اي مصدر ظاهر للحياة على بعد 35 كم تقريبا من العاصمة المنامة,  و اقرب قرية لها هي قرية عسكر (على بعد 10كم)  و تحولت هذه الشجرة من ظاهرة طبيعية غريبة إلى مزار سياحي.

و تدور اقاويل و حكايات محلية حول كون الشجرة مسكونه و كم سمعنا قصصا عديده عن الجن و العفاريت التي تحفها, لكن الله اعلم! يقدر عدد زوارها سنوياً بـ 50 الف زائر من اجانب و مواطنين و مقيمين, لأنها في حجمها  و قصة حياتها معجزة حقيقية تستحق الزيارة و ينصح برؤيتها كل من يبحث عن اكتشاف البحرين.

المرحوم.. متحف البحرين الوطني!

في العام الذي تحتفل فيه البحرين بكونها اختيرت كعاصمة الثقافة العربية 2012, , و في اليوم الذي تحتفل فيه باليوم العالمي للمتاحف, أطلال متحفنا تبكي على ما انتابها..


و لا أقصد هنا بالأطلال (الطَّلَلُ : ما بقي شَاخصًا من آثار الدِّيار ونحوها . ) بل أن مبنى المتحف لا زال بحلته جديدا, تقام فيه الاحتفالات و المحاضرات , و مبناه شامخاً كما عهدناه عندما كنّا في الصفّ الاول الأبتدائي منذ عشرين سنة! و هنا تكمن المشكلة الحقيقية..


رحلة إلى متحف البحرين الوطني كانت رحلة مقرّره لأي طالب بحريني في مدارسها, و الزيارات كانت مكثفة طول سنوات الدراسة. لكن بعيداً عن ذلك و لأدخل في صلب الموضوع, في زياراتي الآن إلى متحف البحرين الوطني أرى ان شيئاً لم يتغير و روحاتي و جيّاتي كما هي اللهم الاختلاف كان في أني استطيع الآن قرائة ما يكتب عن كل قطعة أثرية بعدما تخرجت من الجامعة و الحمدلله. 
 من الجدير بالذكر إني من عشاق المتحف, و ازوره من فتره إلى أخرى, و لكن كل مرة ازورها ادعي ربّي و اتمنى ان يكون هناك زوارا غيري دخلوا قاعات العرض و سحبهم الفضول للتعرف على تاريخ البحرين.  اللوم هنا لا يقع على المتحف او ضعف تسويق ثقافة المتاحف فقط, بل يقع اللوم ايضا عليك انت يا بحريني, ليش ما تروح تتعرف اكثر على ديرتك؟؟ و كيف وصلت البحرين إلى ما وصلت إليه؟ 


"اللّي ماله أول ماله تالي"


أعود إلى الـ "لا جديد" في متحفنا اللهم زيادة صور و افلام سينمائية عند القاعة الرئيسية و إزالة الديناصور-الذي كنّا نعتبره عنصر التشويق في طفولتنا, أما الأموات فما زالوا اموات و المخطوطات لم تزد ورقة واحدة و الاضائة نفسها و إلى آخره. أعلم انه لا يمكن تغير (التاريخ) لكن خلال الـ20 سنة الماضية أنا واثقة بأن هناك تاريخ قد تكون, ألم يوثق بعد؟




أساليب و أدوات العرض (على حطّتها), الخزانات الزجاجية النموذجية للعرض ما زالت كما هي. التقنيات تتغير بينما انا اكتب هنا, لكن لا تقنيات تصل لمتحفنا.
و لديّ الوعي التام و الاعتراف الكامل بجهود وزارة الثقافة للمحافظة على تاريخنا و تقديمه بأجمل الطرق, لكن اجهل لما سقط المتحف سهواً من قائمة التطوير؟
المعارض في الخارج تستقطب الناس من جميع الأعمار و المعلومات توصل بطرق اكثر تطورا و تقدماً, رجاء رجاء.. لا تدفنوا متحفنا بالحياه, اهتموا و لو قليلاً و لا تستخدموه كخلفية لحفلة أو محاضرة أو اجتماع. 


أحزن حينما ارى ان متحفنا يعتبر بأكمله كقطعة تراثية, صُنِعت حين صُنِعت و لم تتطور, لأنها تاريخ..

House of the late His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in Al Muharraq | منزل المغفور له بإذن الله الشيخ سلمان بن حمد آل خليقة في المحرق

House of the late His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in Al Muharraq which was estimated to be built back in 1796. Was developed and recently opened within the projects of developing heritage sites around Bahrain. It also happens to be first house restored using the correct scientific way to preserve the architectural features.Said Sheikha Mai Al-Khalifa to Al Ayam Bahraini news paper: "All decorations carefully restored without harming or even make any adjustments, and that was by installing the ancient inscriptions and restoration if necessary, while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship and art with regard to inscriptions in the five main rooms out of 27 contained in the house,  structural column was found (eight ribs) engraved with a set of deep and elaborated decorations that restore significant period of time and reveal the faces of creativity and aesthetics. "


منزل المغفور له بإذن الله الشيخ سلمان بن حمد آل خليقة في المحرق و الذي يعود تاريخ تأسيسه لعام 1796. تم تطويره و افتتاحة مؤخراً ضمن مشروعات تطوير المواقع التراثية. حيث انه يعتبر اول بيت يتم ترميمه بالطريقة العلمية الصحيحة للمحافظة على ملامحة العمرانية.ذكرت الشيخة ميّ آل خليفة للأيام البحرينية: "حيث تم ترميم كل الزخارف بدقة دونما المساس بها أو تبديلها أو حتى إجراء أية تعديلات أخرى، وذلك عن طريق تثبيت النقوش القديمة وترميمها إذا لزم الأمر، مع الحفاظ على أعلى مستوى من الحرفية والفن فيما يتعلق بالنقوش المميزة الموجودة في خمس غرف أساسية من بين 27 غرفة يحتويها البيت، وقد تم اكتشاف عمود إنشائي (ثمانيّ الأضلاع) محفور بمجموعة من الزخارف العميقة والمُتقنة التي تستعيد فترة زمنية هامة وتكشف عن وجوه إبداعية وجمالية."

So my friend dragged me to this show she wanted to go to so bad, i thought she had seen it somewhere because she kept saying it was so good. But then it was a total different reason we went to it, but all in all i would give it 3 stars.. and a half.

I love going to shows and i love taking pictures of what ever is happening on the stage specially with awesome stage lighting and everything else would be just dark.

i just love capturing JUMPS!!

Now this guy is so talented he is a legend! He can sing and be the whole orchestra in the same time! Tom Thum

Please congratulate me on my first uploads on YOUTUPE!! now you can really feel it with sound!

Religious Events | Dr. Zakir Naik's English Public Lecture. Bahrain

I have come across Dr. Zakir Naik's  work a couple of months ago, i have heard of his amazing way of convincing and his wide knowledge not only of Islam and Qura'an but also in almost every other religion!
He memories all of the books in their original languages and knows about all the religion's history, he is stunning.

It was his second time here in Bahrain, the first one was 10 years ago and the crowds were way beyond expected in Al Fateh Mosque.

Now i could not take pictures on my own for i did not bring my camera along, because to be honest i did not expect anything extraordinary but then i was wrong.
Fortunately my dear photographer friend is always everywhere and i am borrowing some of his pictures to show you how amazing it was, or just a taste of it.

And those whom i witnessed converting to Islam on the spot..

To wittiness someone entering Islam is a feeling that is hard to describe, but think of how a person is being reborn, We have been so lucky to be born as Muslims, but those are luckier and braver.

Music Shows | Taiko Legend, Heartbeats From Japan

Again for the first time in Bahrain this Japanese Drummers gave us an enjoyable night on the 09th and 10th of March 2012, Was followed by a shameful behavior from one of the organizers but that would not stop me from enjoying it..

I am sorry for i could not provide you with a high resolution pictures because my only device was the Blackberry camera, they would not allow me to sneak in my camera which was surprising because i took so many pictures of so many shows last Spring of Culture|Manama.

First let me give you an idea about the show, i could not find any video because it happened yesterday but i did find a video of the same performance that happened earlier this year:

Back to my bad resolution pictures now x_x

It is amazing how easy it looks but they are sweating like hell! u realize it needs so much concentration and also the harmony and rhythm between them all, no one was a second behind it was amazing!

It was a very nice show, but i am very upset with the organizers and their supervisor too, in order to accomplish the highest standards of such events you need to train the organizers to keep up with those standards because they are the representatives and the hosts.

Sorry about the bad resolution again, i hope next time i will figure something out, you take care now!
